Its a Directory with the Title of "Error Page Assistant"
Most of the links go to the newly Google acquired appliedsemantics.com/
Just noticed it in the last few days. Removed the tool bar just to be certain.
Imagine pulling into a street, your looking for 4a but its not there, suddenly you find yourself over the other side of town. No guessing again or checking to see if you have the address right.... youre gone!
This is rubbish stuff by Google.
What do others think
Well I was darn sure it was related to use of Toolbar.
It seemed to disappear after its removal.
But it's there irrespective of Google Tool Bar Installation.
Sorry Google Toolbar.
However it's definitely ending in a Google Operated site.
Next stop check out ISP
Any others having this occurring.
Some ghastly new web marketing initiative?
Yes did figure it out .... finally.
You were right it was some form of spyware that had ingratiated itself uninvited onto the computer.
As I recall it was called nav-assist or something pretty close to that. Once I located it on the drive it was removed simply through the normal uninstall procedure.
Spybot Search and Destroy did not pick it up. It didnt seem to activate every time which was odd and that threw me off the trail initially.
Whatever, the links, from the spammy directory you are bumped off to, are to the now Google owned site given above. No credit to them for that.
In my view its clearly a breach of privacy.
