We need a method to detect the for the presence of the toolbar. Is there a 'legal' way to do it? I just find it rather ironic, that Google considers unload events to be an "annoyance", when their on pages use "on focus", which is a far greater annoyance.
Now that some previously hidden features are exposed, I wonder what new hidden features may be lurking.

BTW, if you follow the link from this page, you can't update (at least in IE6!). Go to the URI, don't click ;)

The "Onunload" feature really angers me. They are using our content to run their business, and in return they are helping to decrease our income? Thanks Google!

Jrap;
The simple fact is that all the toolbar does is allow people to control what their browsers can do, which up until now was the reserve of those of a technical nature willing to put in the time and effort.
Just think; this measure wouldn't *be* necessary if people didn't try to use a visitors browser to do things like generate revenue from a user as they leave their site.
While I know of several sites which use onUnload() for perfectly valid reasons, I cannot think of one "reputable" site which relies on me leaving their site as a method to generate revenue...

Now THIS is WEIRD.... ever since I installed the new Googlebar (IE6 on XP), I can't hit Google! No errors, everything is normal, the googlebar search works fine, but just get a blank page when I go to Google!! Any ideas?

Hmm... update... If I go to google.com, still an empty page, unless I hit refresh, and then it loads. Weird, eh? So how do you get rid of the "Beta" version?

I installed the new version with the experimental features and now the PR bar has gone dead. Has this happened to anyone else? I can't live without my green bar!!

Are you seeing something that we're not seeing? Please expound.
Nevermind. I went and checked out my options and there it is.

Have you ever noticed this.... shows category eventhough update has not shown it yet 2 b more specific for a new entry in a category (after last update) with no signs of entrance (beyond DMOZ appearance) the toolbar knows the webcategory
Any clue about this...

I uninstalled and reinstalled the toolbar, just to see what would happen. Bad idea. Now PageRank is grey on all sites. I hadn't done that since October 2001.

Cool, it works now. Here's what you do.
1. Copy the url 2. Visit any webpage 3. Paste the google url into the bar and visit the page. 4. On click it will take you to the page you visited in part 2 and the update will have happened.
This is what <button default class=button style="width:100" name=back onclick="history.back(1)">OK</button> does
GoogleGuy, still no search microsoft option on the fancysearch button.
