Heh, I have not the faintest idea why the good folks of google decided that the popup blocker needed to keep track of the number of ad's block.

Anyways mine is up to 1,055 ads blocked.

What is YOURS up to?

i wonder what kind of sites u visit, normally the ones with pop ups suck badly. other times desperate webmasters with really good content are driven to popups having no other choice to pay for hosting. *sigh* but then to answer ur question , the one at home shows 85 , the one at office shows about 90.

523.

I think this thread did the rounds a couple of months ago and I was at about 40.

about.com is a big culprit of mine too.

It really does work though - the only reason I keep the google toolbar installed now. Damn useful.

At work - 189 blocked, but I've only integrated the pop-up blocker feature for a couple weeks.

At home, I have a LOT more pop up's blocked, but my web browsing in the privacy of my home is of a different nature. ;)

Mozilla has been blocking popups for ages...

I hate seeing the "Google blocks popups and saves the web" story everywhere...

I'll try and calm down now...

Anyway, this is a "Google Toolbar" forum...

That's odd. I wasn't aware that the internet was "saved".

;)

getting back on track sort of, why isn't the google tool bar available for netscape?

[...] why isn't the google tool bar available for netscape?

There is a (independently released and maintained) version of the Google toolbar for Mozilla / Firebird on MozDev, but it doesn't include the proprietary feature for calculating PageRank (obviously), and doesn't have a popup blocker (since popup blocking is native to the browsers).

967!

Certinaly saved my sanity if not the whole web.

Worst (clean) ofenders - about.com, weather.com, cnn.com

Now if they could just reliably sort my business maill from the penile enlargements and viagra I'd really be happy.

The whole pop up problem bothers me with IE users.

If you open Internet Options and then the security tab you can set any site to the restricted site list and that will block pop ups, active x, Java....
No more pop ups, no more spy type toolbar needed.

Conrad - while you are probably correct I haven't tried to set IE in this way. I just had a look and it seems like a lot of work.

The automatic nature of the toolbar is far superior and even internet and computer dummies can operate it.

Obviously, this isn't google's fault and my site has no problem with the toolbar, but pop-up advetising pisses me off not only becuase of the annoyance but also because the blokers often preclude the legitimate use of pop-ups in a web site.

There are far better ways to open a legitimate (read: other than commercial] popup than to do it on open.window.

Even the built in Dreamweaver MMopenBrowserWindow works and won't be blocket by popup-blockers weather in Mozilla or the Google or Alexa toolbar.

Could you please tell me how I can ZERO OUT my total number of pop-ups blocked counter?

I'd like to zero it out so I can see how many pop ups I get on a weekly basis. Thanks.

This thread confused me until i found out that i had to enable text on the toolbar to see the pop-up count.

My preferred browser has blocked 3261, the toolbar only 118 (i only use it in IE)
