Is there a way, I think I may have seen it before but can't find it, to modify the toolbar so it gets pagerank from www2 so we can see our likely new pageranks during the dance?

Update your registry so that the GoogleHome key is www2 (or www3) instead of www.google.com

That doesn't work.

It still queries the main GG database. A friend of mine was the person who found a registry manipulation, however, I have since rebuilt my machine and been in a major fight with him. I there cannot remember the string to put in the ref :(.

He also had an Opera version of the GG toolbar working using a fake registry. He did something VERY technical.

Well it works for me if I change the registry setting and then close all browser windows. All options (search, links, cache, pagerank etc.) start working on the www3 domain instead of the normal one.

It seems to search using www2 by doing that trick but doesn't seem to update the PR.

Are you sure you're checking a site whose PR will change in the new update? It's quite possible that the www2 PR is still the same as last month's.

Go to start, run and type regedit

Then search for google until you get the key where it says www.google.com for i think googlehome.

Change this to www2.google.com

hmmmm....Your instructions seem pretty straight forward but I've been unable to locate the key you're talking about.

That fix will only allow you to search from www2 or www3. You will not grab PR. I have tested it heavily in the past.

Regedit path to the googlehome key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Google\NavClient\1.1\Options

double click and change the value. You can now use the search to query www2 or www3.

korkus do you know of another? I'm starting to think the "toolbar fix" is a myth.

here is the last time we discussed it.
