who's blocked the most?

I've been surprised to see how few popups I come across whilst surfing the web. I thought I was seeing quite a lot prior to loading the new toolbar but in the first couple of weeks or so with the new toolbar, it's only blocked 16. I'm surprised it's so low.

So who can do better than that? Let's find the person who's used this new function most efficiently!

I have had at least that many and I only use IE to check my hotmail acount. The only other places I seem to see pop ups are on small newspaper sites and free sites (IE Geocities style)

I have blocked 618 pop-ups. And that is just from "family friendly" sites, not any adult sites at all.

I am actually shocked I have blocked that many in just a few weeks.

Up to about 1900 now, only reason is i surf around A LOT! (Not on only 1 computer)

Tip: If you press SHIFT and click on a link the pop-up blocker doesn't work.

I think it's excellent. I don't visit that many sites that have pop-ups (I always avoid them like most people do now), but it's still a Godsend for that odd one.

<off topic>
These statistics shows how popular and ineffective pop-ups are. In general, are advertisers charged for the blocked pop-up impresssions? It would pay G to kill any form of ads other than content based. Maybe in the next version, they might add ad/spy-ware removal programs (something like AdAware)!

<add-on> just noticed, that i am not a newbie anymore ;)suprise!

We've blocked 179 so far in just daily surfing - absolutely love it. We live in a hurricane zone and go to weather.com a lot. Every new screen HAD a pop-up.

170 here, and I second the weather.com thing, we're in a hurricane area too - and weather.com is one of the worst with pop-ups. It was nice last week though, not having to deal with those pop-ups while keeping up with the storm.

Spybot already has this. It runs silently behind the scene. Stops you from even loading pages that will run "bad" applications. You set the controls for what is permissive or not. This, used with the new Google pop-up blocker, works terrific!

339 here.

I don't go to that many sites that use pop-ups either so the number is rather surprising.

Speaking of which - I was at a certain entertainment news site today. Each page load generated THREE popups (which the toolbar blocked) and TWO requests to install an application (which it didn't).

348 blocked for me.

which brings up another topic. Could it be Google's subtle approach telling webmasters they don't care for pop-ups

Ah it's from the Gbar...hmm i can't compete there, i only use it on IE and i open that browser for specific purposes only, so it's only a two-digit number i think. However my CrazyBrowser has blocked 2960 since ..uhm... march this year i think.
