Changing in PR guessing

If not in the index, no guessing of PR for internal pages

If I remember correctly, the Pagerank has been guessed for a long time for pages that were not included in the index. The PageRank was normally estimated from the (highest internal PageRank page, mostly) homepage -1 or -2 for every subdirectory. So you got a guessed PageRank. Only by asking for the links to this page or by direct searching for this page you could see, if the page has it's real or guessed PageRank.

Does anyone see this before that this guessing isn't available anymore? Or did I miss a thing?

Something's up. My current two most popular (from Google's perspecitive) pages have PR0. It seems most of my pages now have "calculated" PR where as last I knew they just had -1 for every dir level down. Backlinks for those url's come up emtpy.

It looks like pages which I have not featured prominently until recently have low to zero PR, but my hits from google corespond with how the page is positioned now. Freshie must think those two pages are good, but is not issuing "fake" PR for them. If they were PR0 banned or penalized, I should not be getting much traffic for them, right?

oLeon,

it seems that you are right. I looked at some (administration) pages which don't have any incoming links, but which always showed a guessed PR. Now the Toolbar is grey. Also, so far new pages (threads) in this forum normally showed a gueesed PR. This also seems to be changed.

In my opinion this change (assuming that this oberservation is true) is an inprovement since you now know which pages have a real PR and which don't.

PR has been fluctuating on all sorts of sites during this last "update". Yahoo UK had PR0 recently. Every body is concerned, frustrated, think that this is a penalty but I am 100% sure not even 99% Absolutely sure that Google is in Technical Mess , I have sites with no spam in any sort at all and are PR0 , If my sites have received penalty then Forget about Google and all of it's rewards.

even [dir.google.com...] is PR0

I have a site which has different results in 3 of 9 Datacenters. I think I am going to take summer vacation and enjoy with my family and forget about all these PR Mess.

I'm sure all people who use to surf the net massively during the day and have the toolbar instaled (one or two of us, at least ;-) hve been experimenting strange feelings during the last weeks. I'm with you, internetbrothers, reading the googleguy comments (do a search for "googleguy says" and will find a usefull site in this sense), it looks just like google having technical problems... But,altought it seems to be that, we have been quite scared last days. Anyway, this kind of grey bar for not indexed pages would be nice for the future...
