Special characters / SEO

Hello I run a danish website and have all my text stored in a database. When I pull the data out of the database special charaters used in the danish language show up as:

ø
æ
å

Should i spend a little time changeing these so that they are show as "real" (זרו) letters in the source or is it a waste of time?

IMHO it's a waste of time. Even the most basic SE spider ought to understand character entities [w3.org]
