Portal like Google page from home link in toolbar

Shows news, weather etc.

On the Google toolbar I recently selected "Google homepage" from the Google logo drop down. It used to take me to a very standard Google homepage. Tonight it showen me a very different page.

Link to personalise the page, Latest news, weather reports, quote of the day, word of the day.

Is this something new?

If you log in there is a nice toolset to the left side that "floats" out when you click on customise.
