After not working for months, my toolbar is once again providing PR info

As originally mentioned in [webmasterworld.com...] , my toolbar stopped dishing out PR values for no apparent reason.

Now, also for no apparent reason, its decided to come back to life!

Crazy.

Congrats, it might have had to do with the IP you use, and it's history not sure, probably only Google knows about that though.

In a related note, my Google toolbar, which had disguised itself as "Alexa" in my View Toolbar list, now seems to have resolved its identity crisis. It did update itself at some point, though I'm not sure whether the update coincided with the name swap.

Did that on my laptop too Roger. I deinstalled both of them and reinstalled to fix it.

Rogerd,

I had the same but with the Teoma <shudder> toolbar. Again it's resolved. Cool.

Clearly, you are more motivated than I am, Brett. I just learned to click on "Alexa" if I wanted Google, and vice-versa. Of course, now I have to retrain myself. :)

I changed IP numbers after being banned by DMOZ and my tool bar stopped showing ranking for any site. I uninstalled and then reinstalled....but it still shows grey for everyone. I guess I can use my imagination...

I find my toolbar works on and off, but it doesn't go days or weeks without working. Just for the odd minute or two and then its back working like normal.

my PR did not work after installing. I took a recomendation found here and enabled "Microsoft VM - Java console" in my internet options. It still did not work after doing this and rebooting.

I accidentally turned off the Google toolbar (View menu -I.E.) while customizing my browser, and when I turned it back on, PR worked. Makes no sense to me, but those experiencing problems may want to try this.

I haven't changed IP.

Three possibilities:

1) I installed Alexa and then removed it a few weeks later, shortly after this the google toolbar started working again.

2) Toolbar updated itself. Its currently showing 1.1.66, not sure what it was previously though :(

3) Its a bloody computer it just does weird things from time to time :)
