That distroys Google bar..

Lop,com and/or lopbrowser,com

If you have been having these problems go to spywareinfo dot com

DO NOT USE ADAWARE! It has NOT been updated for months and it can ruin your connectivity to the web as it has problems with commonname in the newer spyware.

I am using spybot search and distroy...then use hijack this for the registry and the helpful folks on the spywareinfo forum helps me out.

Both are free and worth their weight in gold!

After using the first one just download your toolbar again and all's well.

Googleguy, lop as well as alexa does it to ya.

Since you brought this subject up, I thought I'd also note that the Alexa toolbar damaged the Teoma toolbar on my system.

Is it me, or does lop.com look a whole lot like ultimate search?

I would advise all who visit that site to turn off active x in their browsers. In fact, do not visit unless you are sure you can't pick up a drive by.

Just looking at all my posts about spybot and I hope it is not construed as advertising as there is nothing to sell that I know of...just a good utility that I got all excited over....because...it works!

about Lop...

This piece of garbage completely took over my brothers machine to the point that he could no longer visit ANY site he selected...automatically took him to porn sites and lop sites...replaced his start page, and finally, at the last no apps could be opened but connecting to the web! then it was lop doing it's thing.

I did a short go back to where I could open explorer and work from there and with the reg...I got it 99% cleaned and finished it up with spybot...I really got a load of hands on experience with that, 14 hours and two days! (wish I had found spybot sooner...would have saved all that aggravation.)

It also gave a tray icon for mp3 searchs that kept trying to reinstall lop...

Nasty buggers! those makers should be shot!

Thanks Ann, just to point out but I do not think that is the official page. I went to it but was not at all impressed so I did another search and went to pcworld.com link which points to the official authors page kella.de and from there it points to official mirrors but has a whole tonne of info as well.

Be extremely careful dl'ing and installing new spy detectionware. You guess it, some have been found to be spyware themselves. Never let a "spy detector" connect to the net - there is zero reason for them to do so.

Brett, why not investigate it before you knock it and perhaps keep a number of people who really need help from getting it?
