why don't aspx pages have PR?

There was a thread over in the Microsoft forum [webmasterworld.com] a few weeks ago concerning pages with an .aspx extension not getting page rank. I thought I'd raise the issue over here and see if it gets more attention.

A google search for .aspx yields about 5.5 million pages, most of which have the .aspx extension. Though I didn't check all of them :( , a spot check showed none have PR.

I did note something else of interest. I found pages that go down several levels, with long query strings, and no in-bound links. Like

FamousComputerMnfctr.com/retail/catlg/display.aspx?id=14&sz=12

I was of the impression such an animal would not be crawled. But this is getting off topic.

Does anyone have any insight concerning the lack of pagerank for .aspx pages? Though 5.5 million is a small portion of 3 billion, that's a lot of pages to discredit.

Just because the toolbar doesn't show PR doesn't mean that a page doesn't have any. The toolbar doesn't understand all extensions and aspx is one of them. Not long ago .info sites wouldn't show PR. I can assure you these pages have PR. Also dynamic pages do have page rank and do get indexed.

That's encouraging Korkus. When I get a chance I think I'll try some searches to see how the aspx pages rank in the serps compared to other similar pages.
