I just redid win98se from scratch. The first thing afterwards was updating windows from top to bottom with all the appropriate updates and to ie6. After installing a few new packages, I ran adaware and sweept the system of anything it found.

Now I can't install the Google toolbar (or alexa for that matter). It goes to the end, says everything is ok, but the tb never shows up in ie.

Sound familar to anyone?

Hi Brett.

Just a thought. I had a problem before where I could not see the bar myself.

I went and uninstalled it. Then I turned around and reinstalled it and there it was.

I'm almost cartain you may have tried this.

Brett,

If part of your updating included a clean IE6 install, you may have to enable 3rd-party browser extensions to use the toolbar - It may be disabled by default. Internet Options->Advanced->Enable 3rd party browser extensions.

You da man! That was it. Thanks JD.

I think it's still broken though as the toolbar only shows a pr7 for the homepage here ;-)
