Odd Google Backlinks Data

This confuses me: I go to domain "x" and go the the google toolbar. It shows the cache which is current, but it shows no backlinks to the site.

Then I search for the site name. The site itself doesn't come up, but a couple dozen other sites that link to it DO come up for the search, because they contain the domain name/link of the site in question.

What confuses me is, site "x" is in google and so are dozens of sites that link to it, yet it shows no backlinks in the toolbar. All these sites have been up for quite a while (over a year), it's not a current caching issue.

how are you searching for you site?

Google generally only shows Pagerank 4 and higher backlinks.
