Toolbar change

Can it only be me?

Two days ago my Google toolbar was reconfigured, integrating the search box into my browser (so there is no drop-down when the bar is turned on) and OMITTING the pagerank meter. Now I'm assuming Google has done this to me (and I can think of good arguments for scrapping Google's measure of the importance of sites), but I haven't seen anyone else mention this phenomenon. Is this the end of life as we know it, or what?

Select "options" under the Google emblem in the toolbar. You can change the drop-down settings, buttons, etc...

Thunder: Thanks, but actually, I know that part. What I am saying is: I believe my toolbar has been externally reconfigured to eliminate the visible evidence of pagerank. I think it happened when they asked me if I wanted to join Google Compute (and I said no thanks). Methinks I may be a beta of things to come.

Have you tried uninstalling the toolbar and then re-install? Make sure you select "advanced features" because PR is an advanced feature.

Thunder: Thanks again, but I just discovered a toolbar forum, on which somebody else is saying the same as me. He got the same advice as you're giving, and it didn't work. I think Google may be thinking the unthinkable: of letting pagerank sink into the background. After all, apart from its marketing value (which as a near monopoly Google no longer needs), what does it do but encourage an unhealthy level of engineering by nerds like ourselves and provoke lawsuits? I wouldn't be at all surprised if you wake up soon and find your little green line has gone... forever (sob).
