Does anyone know if the new google site maps that are on fire now, are those site maps in xml or whatever universal, I mean if I replace my old site maps with googles new version (that the big dogs want)is MSN and Yahoo bots going to be able to navigate the sitemap as well?
Hurry and reply my friends.

Google sitemap is just for Google. Just create an XML sitemap for Google and leave everything else the way it is now.

Thats crazy. So now we need 2 site maps on our sites? Can't believe google has to do everything different from everyone else, must be nice to be the big dog. So basically this is how i want it set up:

/sitemap.php-for the original sitemap
/googlesitemap.php-new sitemap

and just have 2 sitemap links on my website? Thanks for the fast response, anyone else have suggestions, feel free to drop them.

No, I think you are not understanding.

A Google sitemap is not something that your users will ever see at all - a current site map on a php page or a html page or whatever can stay just as it is now and is not effected at all.

A Google site map is an .xml file placed in the root of your web which will be read by a google bot when your site is indexed, but NOT read by humans at all.

You do not link to it anywhere, just upload it then submit its name and location through the Google Site maps page.
