Hi All,

I have started a site and I have a keyword phrase that I'm using. I have about 100 pages with the keyword phrase used about 5% of the time. I'm trying to rank well obviously in that phrase. But my concern is that I should be using more keywords and be more diverse. I have about 5-6 main directory topics, but still use mostly the main phrase. Just curious to see what everyone thinks, maybe to many eggs in that basket? thanks in advance.

Depending on your site and the exact term, I would say that it may be a wise plan, or you may need to spread it out.

Remember that ranking well happens both on your site and off. You should start gathering links to your site with the keyword in the anchor text.

I would say that any site can successfully try to rank for up to 3 keywords at the same time and still be successful. A healthy balance is always smart

First you need to check, whether the keyword you are using can be promoted through on-page factors or off-page factors.

This way once you have this, you can then either use them in your web contents or use them as Anchor text in your links.

In any case, use these keywords as Anchor text as well to have better seo results.

Guys Great reponses. I am a new to this and my page is also work in progress. I actually have a keyword phase. Lets use "small green widgets" as an example. Does the phase complicate things. Also did not understand the Link text...etc.

-Do you mean that when I share a link with someone the link text (Anchor text)must have my "small green widgets" in it.?

-When I use other phrase "small widgets" "green widgets" " should I spread that out for links or just standardize?

Thanks again guys very insightful.
