Doorway Page on Another Domain

Doorways linking "nuts-and-bolts" to "nutsandbolts.com"

Hi All,

I've just registered a hyphenated version of my domain name (eg: "nuts-and-bolts.com" as well as "nutsandbolts.com".

I had intended to have various doorway pages (only) on the new hyphenated domain linking to my main site, but I am concerned that the SE's may yell "spam!"

What do you think? Is there a better way to do it, or is it worth doing at all considering the value of keywords in the domain name seems to be decreasing?

If, as an alternative, I set up a mirror site, can anyone tell me
how much I'd need to alter it to make it appear unique to SE's.

I can't promise that you will never have any trouble, but I do 'doorway domains' all the time and have never had the first domain suffer from it.

Running one new "doorway" domain and it's working very well, very well indeed. Very important point - make sure it is NOT an exact duplicate. At to the level of changes, well, I've never run such a fine line to be booted out!

What do you guys to in terms of link popularity?

Do you mimmic the sites so well that you have been able to acquire reciprocal or at least incoming links?

I'm careful how I link from one to the other - nothing overboard. I use KW links and find reciprocal links outside.
Content should not be too close to the main site and I keep the number of words on the page low. I make changes to the title, meta tags and body. I keep graphics the same but alter alt tags.
All very subtle ;)
