Think I made a terrible mistake last month. Actually my site has a lot many articles which are the source of most of my traffic. In an enthusiasm to get more, I made a blog and posted each of the articles as a post there. Also, I submitted a lot of this as articles for ezines..Now, it looks as if all my webpages are falling in the SE ranking..I fear if this was from the duplicate content..

Now, the ezines are not in my control..but I dont want to change the webpages too as they were carefully written for SEO.

Now, if need be, I am ready to modify my page a little bit without affecting my SEO to make Google think that they are different content..

Can somebody tell me how much change gets the duplicacy off..

I accidentally had a duplicate website once where the only difference was the header, and it got penalized. I put noindex tags on the duplicate pages, removed them with the google page removal tool, and the original pages were back to normal within weeks.

So minor changes (in my case the header) won't do it.

but in my case, the ezine articles are already out..do not even know how many places it got published. And the blog is deleted. But still the high ranking ezines would know get my pages down.

Oops...I came here to ask a similar question....well actually....not so much the question, but the problem...

I was GOING to ask, if I produce original articles for my blog....then also put them on my website, would this be deemed duplicate content....I guess the answer is yes...

Surely, this shouldnt be so, if the article is original and useful , lots of other websites may use it anyway....and reward you with a link....

Perhaps its better to simply link to the article with a text link......

Making blog entries of your articles is an excellent way to increase your search results, and your traffic in general. You need to make sure to have tags as this can bring in traffic and listings from technorati and other feed search engines. Also, Google is starting to value RSS content more highly.

But, don't be LAZY. Don't just copy your articles into a blog. Instead, think of the blog as a simple summarizer. You need to write original content for the blog, but then link key phrases to the article. For example if the article was about Hot Dogs, you find out what the best keywords for you are, then the blog post would be something like:

In New York, the <a href="http://">hot dog</a> scene is really heating up. Check out this article on <a href="http://">New York Hot Dogs</a>, which also gives a detailed look at the history of hot dogs and the way hot dogs our made.

Anyway you get the idea. Don't repurpose your content, think about what the user wants (an easier, quicker entry into your content) and do the extra work to make actual blog entries.
