Far from an expert but here is my 2 cents

You dont need to just keep building incomming resources and the search engines will find you.

A couple of things you can do low cost or for free.

Start a blog or two about your topic area
Submitt to some well established directories
Keep writing high quality highly relevant articles and people will link to you naturally.

Submitt a press release about the launch of your new site to Internet pr sites (just do a search for free press release services)

makdb, its quite simple. Your pages will be found. You just need to give it time. Just keep writing and posting on your site, you will see them get indexed naturally over time, take the simple step of "Do It", "Forget It". Write your articles, put them up and forget about them. Come back in a few weeks time and do a search for them on your site through google. If they are indexed do the appropriate changes to have them become more relevant to the engines if that is your intent. But once again just give it time, thats all it takes, search engines are developed and ran around the simplicity of time. How lucky are we eh? - seems i dont have as much time as id like..
