Redirecting Traffic to E-Commerce Site

I have an existing website that sells products for a specific industry. Someone advised me to set up a separate website that is content based for a specific aspect of that industry (that focuses on the keyword I am most interested in). I was told that traffic to that site can then be redirected to my existing site.

Is this allowed? Or will this get me in trouble?

More specific sites give more visitors to your main site that's true. But if these sites lack content it won't be useful.

If you give good information on these sites and don't copy (copy the codes and change the content thing) you won't have any problems.

Also if you use differet ip addresses for the hosts of these domains this would guarantee the matter...
