Does a long URL hurt in the algo for ranking?

Is-----mydomain.com/folder/forestfolder/forestfolder.html "bad" that's how I set some pages up, with the keyword being "forestfolder"?

Or----should i just go----mydomain.com/1/x/forestfolder.html?

I would keep it as is.

The format you are using shouldn't do you any harm and if anything will help you in Yahoo and MSN.

I've not seen any obvious harm from my own tendency toward rather longish urls.

OK, I will see how it goes. It's a massive project to get 100s of URLs up there. When I have 1,000 URLs each getting 10 organic seraches a day for their keywords, that will be 10,000 organic visitors a day:-))
