My website has been around for about a year however any attempts at optimisation were started in december. It's a small 5 page site .
The aim is to get any decent ranking for keywords as london widget/s and widget/s in london (for this 7th in yahoo , somewhere in the 3rd hundred in google) but it's not going anywhere. The keywords are competitive - 1,290,000 results
There are sites of similar size/content doing well (most of them are quite old though , but some new as well) - i mean second-third pages in google.
Google shows only 1 backlink , however 31 in yahoo . I am mentioning that because i do in fact have some of the links that google shows for my competitors - but not for me.
The keyword density including Meta alt title tags , anchor link text and so on 2.41% - not much difference really from most of those ranking high .
Reading forum daily , and there is a certain progress but not for desirable keyphrases - whatever i tried.
I am still getting new links , common advice about addding more content wouldn't be applicable here. But i don't know what to do apart from that - should i just leave it for some time and wait - maybe google will be kinder( although i've done it before), or i should rewrite the words or i should give up ...
I honestly don't understand.
