I've seen this done before and would like to get a concensus on if you think this is a "dangerous" SEO technique.

I've see people ask about hiding text with css but what about hiding text, offscreen (like x:-140px,etc) in layers. Or for that matter in hidden layers directly on the screen.

Would this be considered spamming along the lines of adding white text to a white bg color?

Shame, shame!

Most search engines have algo's that find the hidden text, and you may be penalized, wherever it is located.

Put your real text in the body, get some good links incoming, etc., etc.

SEO and spamming are not mutually inclusive, get it?
Good luck, WFN :)

Even when they don't have those algos yet, spiders will eventually be intelligent enough to ignore (or penality) *everything* that can not be seen by a regular visitor.
