I think image ALT tags are no longer being read by a single major engine.

Anyone want to take the counter point?

Well, I will not argue with you BUT what if they change the algo next month?

Would you take them out now and then add them back OR just leave them in?

uk credit cards at av.com [altavista.com], position 1 sapphirecars.co.uk, seems to make an argument against.

I am taking the "What if" approach and leaving them in just in case they become important again. As I see it alt tags are doing no damage...

If a People with Disabilities Act is passed in the future, alt tags could mean much more than they do today. Mouseovers without text links . . etc. .

In fairness these type of results seem to have popped up only a week or so ago.

>And we are positive they aren't cloaking?

As sure as you can be.

">And we are positive they aren't cloaking?

Can you believe how crazy this stuff makes some people? I actually went hunting at AV the other day to see if I could spot cloaked pages.
