What a great resource this site offers!

One topic I haven't noticed or have missed is the many different SEO software packages avilable. I have been considering purchasing Web Position Gold but am not sure how good it really is and was wondering if any of you guys might know if it is worth bothering with?

I have a minimal budget and very little time. I would like to achieve a higher page ranking. My thoughts are either to go with one of the many SEO software packages or hire a company to do the work...

Any suggestions, comments would be greatly appreciated.

Hi and welcome to WebmasterWorld

Try to do a site search for "submission tools"
And you will have a lot of answers.

Don't spend any money on SEO tools, lock yourself away and read this forum you will learn everything you need to know here about getting good rankings.

As far as submission tools, why bother there’s only a handful of SE’s that you need to worry about submitting to and those can be done in 10mins

Whilst it is true you can learn it all for free here, you will find that WPG Page Critic will let you know what you have missed, or could do better!

Any automated queries to google, including position checking, is a violation of their Terms of Service.

There have been many new members in these forums boo-hooing about their banned web sites because of software that uses automated queries.

"GG please look at this!" "Pleaassssssse help me!" "My site has been banned!"

I don't use software. By using software you are surrendering your work to someone else's opinion of what seo is, and how it should be done. Whose opinion?

Sorry, but the buck stops with me.

There is an intersting piece of software which might be interesting for you and which I'm considering to buy. The software only checks your site (title, keyword density etc.), gives you tipps what to do or not to do, but does not submit your site (so it doesn not violate any SE rules)

[snip]

Has anybody tried this?

you will find that WPG Page Critic will let you know what you have missed, or could do better!

Or let you know what you've done differently than what the creators of that software have worked into their algorithms. Whether that means "better" is very much arguable.

I tried SEO Optimizer, it really didn't help my SEO work.
It just slowed me down, all of the suggestions it gave me were for things I already knew about.

I just concentrate on my keyword research, writing good copy and my titles and links.

You can find everything you need to know about seo here in the forums or just ask and someone will be able to answer your question.

I have been going through these forums with regards to softwares and banning, etc. I was hoping to start with optimising with one of the softwares which I could use as a learning guide as well. Now I am pretty convinced that I should not go in for it.

On the other hand I have absolutely no idea as to what I should use as my set guidelines to start with optimising my site - lets say for GG first. Would anybody be kind enough so as to lay out a step by step guide as to what I should follow the fact that softwares are a NO, NO NOW please!

Thanks.

Hi Hussain -- and welcome.

A good place to start is with the WebmasterWorld Google Knowlege Base [webmasterworld.com]. There are also a lot of threads linked to from there, so settle in for a lot of reading! :)

Thank you JayC. Just been reading Brett's post with regard to GG and wondering what I have been for so long. Had this site under my favourites for over 6 months but just brought it out. On the other hand just stopped myself from buying some SE software which I plan to put into my subscription here.
