Hi,

I was hoping for a little help regarding Google search and Google UK pages.

I had a client who’s website was getting good results in both Google search and Google UK web pages. They have now decided to host their web site in Germany, which I presume accounts for a complete loss of listings in Google’s UK web pages.

Can anyone confirm that the UK web pages in Google are actually pages hosted in the UK which provides a prominent listing for uk websites as apposed to Google search.

Any help is appreciated

Hi Giddion

As a hosting company, we take in new clients from all over the world everyday and we've never heard or seen anybody loose any rankings or listings from their original PR at their other hosts.

Google just looks at the new server and sees a new IP address and realizes that there has been a change in servers and continues it's work crawling your site.

What I do recommend however, is to leave the files of your site at the old server for at least a full month, just in case. After you can close the account there.

Hope this has shed light on your concern

Google UK listings are .uk plus .com etc with UK IP addresses.

I have always been under the impression that "pages from the UK" ONLY show up for the following:

.co.uk or .org.uk domains
or
if the domain (any extension) is hosted IN the UK.

if your client had a non .co.uk/org.uk domain, then the scenario you explain is quite possible (imo)
