I have been using this tool for about a year, mainly for its Page Critic feature, which most of the time helps identify potential issues or enhance a page.

I have never used the scheduler or the report generator so I cannot tell if these are worth. I am not too keen on using the automatic submission tool either. I hardly used the position checker.

I have the standard 1.5x version and I believe it was worth buying for the page critic. However be aware you need to pay an annual fee if you want to have access to the updated Page Critic database.

Hola

It may be worth doing a search on the site for information about web position gold e.g.

[webmasterworld.com...]

The thread starts...Position checking program...
will using a program to check my postion hurt me?

Also Q: [Webmasters] Will I get banned for running automated tools?
A: If you use a utility to check your rankings at a high rate you will. Use only in the off hours and slowly. Programmed querying is one of the #1 problems in the search engine business today. Google is taking a mild to aggressive stance to thwart it.
Google has also banned entire ISP's where abusive spiders have been run from:

Welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com] timmyc.

From Google Information for Webmasters: [google.com]

"Don't use unauthorized computer programs to submit pages, check rankings, etc. Such programs consume computing resources and violate our terms of service. Google does not recommend the use of products such as WebPosition Gold™ that send automatic or programmatic queries to Google."

Here's a few messages [webmasterworld.com] from a previous discussion regarding the use of automated rank checking software. Do a site search [searchengineworld.com] for webposition gold and you may find some other similar discussions.

WPG will do nothing more for you than you will learn here. Invest a day researching this site and you will come out with enough knowledge to throw WPG away!

Don't use the submission, do it manually and arrange quality links to your site. If you have just 1 or 2 sites you wouldn't need software to monitor your positions as you can easily do it manualy. If you have lots of sites or loads of keywords and feel you simply must use software then search just a few at a time and do it during down times! Also, DON'T use it on Google as it is against their terms of service!

Interesting seeing the references to 'down times' - in a global sense I don't think is possible ;)

At midnight in the US it's early afternoon in Australia/Asia and early morning in Europe/India. There's a lot of people accessing the web during the 'down time' for the US.

all this remembers me the spam in my inbox times ago offering my sites to be added to 10.000+ search engines and optimizing tips. in my opinion that's all bull****. a program can't do that optimizing you can do by hand.

for checking your pages if keywords are set and the description is not missing that might be interesting on bigger websites you don't know if you've done it already. this is running on your desktop system, so this won't hurt anyone at all and might help you to find missing meta tags.

thanks everyone, Ive been submitting manually anyway.

My main question is the web critic feature, will it get you ranked high by following the critic's suggestions?

Are they on target with that?

This is what im using for mostly, running page critic and following its suggestions
