I've just been searching with google to see where one of the sites are listed and I found an interesting "page".

Its called something similar to "www.dicount-stuff-and-this-brand-and-this-make-of-different-types.com/brandname-make.htm"

I cliked on result and was sent to a competing website, with no mention of my site at all.

So I decided to have a look at the google cache, and low and behold the google cache shows a page of the categoey I am in in the ODP.

Now it could be completely innocent, and someone has purchased an expired domain and changed the content but google hasn't indexed it yet, or is there somthing dodgy going on?

That's actually a pretty common dirty trick. There are sites that do that with mispellings too. Try leaving the "e" off of Google next time you type in the address and see what you get. ;)
