I've just upgraded from an old iBook and I used to have OS9 and OSX available in the startup disks.
Running Classic Mode under OSX is not appropriate ... I need to be able to boot into OS9.
I do software development and need both operating systems for testing purpouses and classic mode won't allow me to throughly test the software.
I tried to install OS9 and it doesn't appear in my startup disks. I tried to "restore" OS9 using my iBook CD's, but the CD won't load on my PowerBook.
I am screwed if I can't get this working, my work depends on it - need all the assitance I can get.
Thanks
Hi-Voltage.
You might be out of luck. Recent ibooks and other macs are not dual boot. You may be stuck with using classic. The only other alternative may be to buy an older mac from ebay to use for your testing.
I have a beige G3 that I've kept for this sort of thing and more particularly for pluging all of those SCSI and local talk devices I have into.
Best wishes and good luck
Phil
I bought a Iomaga 20 GB External Hard Drive with Firewire and cloned my entire system to it when I replaced the Hard Drive in my Powerbook. I went to System Preferences and told the machine to start up from the External Hard Drive and it did.
Now, will it boot from 9? I noticed that the option is there to do so.
