Well I can't say that I have wondered that but I think I may have a solution for you. As you prolly know that windows is basically a bunch of COM put together. Well DLL's upon DLL's are waiting out there for people to check out their member functions. I am sure that there is a function out there that you can improve upon. Basically what you do is you write a program that (is a COM) object that runs only for a bit that actually does the alphabetical sort. Basically it would be a wrapper function that implements what is already out there....Or you can e-mail microsoft and say HEY where is my alphabetical Bookmarks?!....:-)

Or you can right click after you open your bookmarks and select "sort by name". ;)

It's been my experience that manually rearranging your Favorites (via drag and drop, for example) can change the default behavior of Windows which is to sort the Favorites in alphabetical order.

Here's a somewhat more permanent solution that works in Windows although the key might be different in XP. It's based on MS KB Article #Q177482:

Run RegEdit. Browse to and delete this key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MenuOrder

Now Close RegEdit and restart Windows. Windows will scan the registry and recreate MenuOrder with the default settings.

Actually it was a humorous idea, albeit IMO impractical. But I suspect you already knew that. :)

Albeit [dictionary.reference.com].

IMO is an acronym for In My Opinion.

"albeit" actually mean "All be it" which in English means "in other words".

God and I thought my C in English at school would get me nowhere...!
