Just-In-Time Debugging hangs

IE or WSH script debugger hangs

This is driving me nuts, and I'm not sure where to ask...

If I get an IE error (or if I invoke WSH with a /X option to force the debugger) then I get a dialog box titled Just-In-Time Debugging asking me to make a choice between "New Instance of Microsoft Script Editor" and "New Instance of Microsoft Script Editor 6.0" There are some variants to this dialog (such as I should also select the script) but the upshot is the same. If I select the first choice, I am hung right away. If I select the second, it appears that I get a debugger window, but I cannot get to it as it is hung.

It would be great to know what I can do to fix this up and tell me what other information I should provide.

Thanks,
Csaba Gabor from New York

I have IE 5.5 / Windows 2000 Pro (purchased in 2001, I think).
I have downloaded the most recent versions that I found at microsoft's site (I think it said something about 5.6) so I'm somewhat confused about the Editor 6.0 (the files I have from MS are:
scripten.exe and scd10en.exe).

Sorry Csaba, I don't have any info for you. Generally, when I run into a problem with a Microsoft program, the first place I turn is the Microsoft knowledgebase [support.microsoft.com]. If that doesn't work, then a general Google search. It is rare that there isn't at least one article on the problem somewhere on the web.
