I have a bug in my shopping cart and on the final reciept page I get errors which I can not repeat.
These problems are rare enough to not duplicate, but frequent enough to get phone calls.

Other then this posted problem I recieve a linkpoint file is not properly installed or not present on the server, but that problem is only temporary too.

Server Error in '/' Application.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

550 unknown user <mysnippedurl.com>
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.OverflowException: 550 unknown user <myurlagain.com>

Source Error:

The source code that generated this unhandled exception can only be shown when compiled in debug mode. To enable this, please follow one of the below steps, then request the URL:

1. Add a "Debug=true" directive at the top of the file that generated the error. Example:

<%@ Page Language="C#" Debug="true" %>

or:

2) Add the following section to the configuration file of your application:

<configuration>
<system.web>
<compilation debug="true"/>
</system.web>
</configuration>

Note that this second technique will cause all files within a given application to be compiled in debug mode. The first technique will cause only that particular file to be compiled in debug mode.

Important: Running applications in debug mode does incur a memory/performance overhead. You should make sure that an application has debugging disabled before deploying into production scenario.

I do not know what user it is referring to.
It is just me typing in an order over the phone using the website.
That is the error on the shopping cart final reciept confirmation page.

Well it appears that something using Com Interop is failing due to security but it's very difficuly to say for sure with limited info. Do you have the source code or are you just running the binaries?

I have the .aspx pages on my local machine, the dll's though are a mystery to me.

The shopping cart brand is "salescart" asp.net version

The cart company blames the hosting company, the hosting company is very patient with me, but thinks the code is just written badly.

The cart however has made a lot of money for me. I am afraid to change carts for a whole lot of reasons. I only know basic html so my knowedge is very limited to the problem. Webmasterworld is the only place I have to go.

and thank you for the replies too :)

It sounds like you're running the binaries, you'll find the dlls in the /bin/ directory on your site.

If you had the source then you'd see additional files with the same name as your aspx file. As an example if you were running pages written in c# then you'd have

mypage.aspx
mypage.aspx.cs <-- the source code would be in this hugger right here

I'd ask the software developers to be specific as to why they believe it's the hosts fault and why they can't just catch the System.OverflowException?

try
{
//do some stuff
}
catch(System.Exception se)
{
// got an error better do something
}
catch(System.OverflowException soe)
{
// uh oh, got an error better do something so my customers don't freak out when they see this error
}
finally
{
// final cleanup...
}

Hey I checked out the feature matrix for the cart you're using and it's open source; you do have the code somewhere in your web application.

mypage.aspx
mypage.aspx.cs <-- the source code would be in this hugger right here

I do not see the mypage.aspx.cs files anywhere. All I see are a few dll files. I do not see the page pulling from it either with an include file.

No, I use frontpage 2003 and notepad. Salescart is a tool that integrates with frontpage. You run a wizzard with all your company settings and it generates shopping cart and order management pages for you and inserts them in folders.

I can't help you with that one... Not sure if FP has support for .aspx and aspx.cs or .vb pages. I'm pretty sure that you cannot compile with FP though.

I am just updating what I discovered through testing.
550 unknown user error was caused if an order was placed with an invalid email address. I have duplicated the problem enough to be prety sure it is the cause. The shopping cart company now admits it is a problem and said they have a fix, but like 3 months later after I call them again and refill out all their useless work order forms.
