I am using Aol Broadband, Win XP SP2 and a Netgear router. My problem is that I cannot access any Microsoft websites. I have put them all into my trusted sites, but still nothing. My biggest problem is getting Windows Updates. Can anyone help me please?

More than likely, your IE permissions have ActiveX controls blocked. You want to selectively unblock them to download and run.

You need to be especially careful, though, because ActiveX controls are programs that run on your machine with full permissions. They have whatever permissions you have on the machine.

Search for Recommended Internet Explorer settings [google.com].

Alternately, you can use a different browser, such as FireFox, Mozilla, or Opera.
