IIS on XP Pro not allowing me to view localhost

I have IIS running on XP Pro.

I have checked it is running (control panel > Admin Tools > IIS > click on website folder and it shows State = Running)

If I go to browser and type [laptop...] or [localhost...] nothing appears.

NO error message appears just nothing.

HELP please - I am sure it once worked but cannot be 100%

put a page in the folder, and try to directly navigate to it:

[localhost...]

If you're running XP SP2, see Microsoft Knowledge Base article KB884020 [microsoft.com].

There is a downloadable patch for loopback address range (localhost) problems under XP SP2.
