I have an ASP site, but people tell that it is really bad for search engines. Could someone explain to me why it is? And if it is bad, what are the steps to take to make it better (other changing the whole structure of the site, and rewriting it in HTML).

It's not bad for search engines. That's patently false.

ASP is a language that creates dynamic content, which translates to HTML and is read by all web browsers everywhere.

Yep. I would steer clear of whomever gave you that advice.

They may have been talking about using complex query strings like page.asp?id=123&site=233k&page=23okj2rkj. That isn't good for SE's regardless of the type of software used.

Don't get carried away with the query strings and it's no different than HTML as far as the SE's are concerned.
