Hi All,

I am currently working with a colleague how wants to use a WYSIWYG .net code generator to build his site. He is competant at databases and know some programming languages but wants to code .net without learning it.

I have pointed him in the direction of www.asp.net which offers WebMatrix for free, however, he doesn't get along with it. Are there any other free packages on the market?

It's kind of hard to do .Net programming and not learn about it....If WebMatrix is too much for him then i'd recommend just sticking to HTML and FrontPage.

I'm tending to agree with you, however, it's not that WebMatrix is too much for him. The interface for WebMatrix is not very pickup and play. The manuals really need to be read and understood in detail. I think I'm making him out to be lazier than he is. There is a package out there that does what he wants but it's a ludicrous amount of money.

As I mentioned...I just don't see how someone could use full WYSIWYG to to any .Net programming. If you do, you will miss so much of what makes .Net great and possbly not program in any better way than classis ASP.

Tell him to get the ASP.Net Unleashed book and go to town with it. Well worth his time.
