HTTP Compression on IIS

I have been trying to optimise my website. I have been running it through WebSiteOptimization.com (other web optimization websites are available).

The site reports that I was not using HTTP Compression:

"# This site is not using HTTP compression, otherwise called content encoding using gzip. Consider compressing your textual content (XHTML, JavaScript, etc.) with mod_gzip or similar products."

In IIS admin, i turned on http compression for static and application pages and restarted the web service. Re-running the test, the site still claims I am not using compression.

Any Ideas?

search for a site called pipeboost, they do IIs compression and have a tester as well. Perhaps theirs works better than that at WebSiteOptimization.com, which has troubles with some technologies...

I had the same problem with IIS. Went frantic for a few days trying to figure out if I had the wrong DLL or something, then just shrugged and got the software from some 3rd party company, port80 or something like that. Now it works great.
