Hiding the article id from logs?

Hello,

We are working on Windows servers and want to rewrite the URLs for our websites so they are search engine friendly.

Is there a way to have static looking URLs while hiding the article id from logs? We prefer the statistics to show based on the page type instead of the individual page.

I guess the most search engine friendly option would be:

www.sitedomain.com/dynamic-title-type.htm/1234

BUT how do you keep the "/1234" (= article id) from showing up in the log files?

THANKS in advance for your help and insight.

Spietreser, I think a friendlier URL would be something like,

sitedomain.com/dtt/1234.htm

My guess is that aggregating stats by page "type" will depend on your stats program - you may have to shop for one that will let you use wildcard searches, etc. (Nettracker is one.)
