How to stop this happening?

We have recently moved to Windows 2003 server.

We keep on getting new folders added above our root directory. These folders contain things like .mp3 files and .rar files.

It looks like our server is being used by someone else.

Can we do anything to prevent this happening?

set write permission to a specific user only and anonymous to read-only

There should be a property in the web site configuration called something like "Parent Paths". Turn that off. Also, you need to configure your write settings on your server. The anonymous web user should not have write privileges to anything. In Windows 2000 Server, there is a wizard to set the permissions available from the IIS Manager. I assume it is the same in Windows 2003 Server.

check your ftp site permissions, make sure to not allow anonymous access.
