Have you tried contacting support at MacroMedia?

This sort of thing is the single main reason I recommend AGAINST DW/FP et al. If you want to use a decent WYSIWYG editor which does NOT do the above, sticky me.

Hi

I got DWMX 7.0.1 and it does not add this line when i ask for a new document, thats xhtml compliant.

Try to upgrade your DW if your using an older version. check macromedia.com

Kind Regards

yeah same - using DreamWeaver 2004 Professional

As hafnius suggested, you might want to try upgrading your version of DW - but then again, it could be a glitch in the settings -- check that too.

I get the same line on mine. I have Dreamweaver 6.1. When you create a new page, no matter what type there is a check box in the bottom right to make the page XHTML Compliant. If you check that box it puts in that code.
