What in THE world does WYSIWYG mean? I'm tired of talking to programmers and just nodding along stupidly. HELP!

Wow. Now I feel REALLY dumb. It seemed so difficult and complicated! And here's it's an old man's saying! Amazing... Wonder what other acronyms in the programming world are like that.
I'm waiting for: WYRNIWYG What you really need is what you get.
The term WYSIWYG came into common use in 1984 when the Mac displayed an image of the paper while other PCs displayed characters with the color representing bold, italics, etc.
