I have just taken over a new domain name, I have bought my hosting package from my normal host and have got fp extensions added, However when i go to upload to my site in the open web dialog i type in my website url but get a folder in not accessible error message.I dont think the url has updayed the dns yet as i only changed it 3 hours ago. so would this be the reason. Guess if i waited 24 hours i would find out but dont want to loose 24 hrs if this is not the case.

Yes, that is the problem. You'll need to wait for the DNS to propagate or have the host give you the IP address and you can login that way until the DNS transfers.

When you upload via FP, just enter the IP address (instead of the domain) that the host has assigned for your site. That will give you access to your space on the new server and you can upload a copy of the site. This way when the DNS transfers, you'll have a copy of the site sitting there for viewing.
