Frontpage 2003 Problem...

in frontpage 2003, if i edit my web pages, i've noticed on many occasions, when i click save, the file size jumps from say its original size of 5k to say... 50kb, then i click save again, and its 100kb's.

1 day, after editing my about me (a rather large page already) it went from 80kb to 2.5mb!

i added nothing! removed more actually.

any ideas?
i would really like to fix this as i prefer to use frontpage 2003 over dreamweaver mx (although, since this problem i'm starting to use dreamweaver more)

help would be appreciated.

I can't help with your initial question but If you have access to Dreamweaver it might be time for the switch. I don't want to start a "dreamweaver is better than Fontpage" war but I would

start to use dreamweaver more

i've been using frontpage for years and the conversion for me is so big that i get really confused

if u goto my site <snip>
download the page and open it in dreamweaver, it looks hectically buggered

so i'm really confused when i edit it

You shouldn't post links - read the terms of service - you can post some - but not for this sort of site review. Remove the link and attempt to describe your issues.

I have had a look though - There doesn't seem to be that much wrong with the page. I recommend you take your CSS a little further and try to edit the page from the top down - analysing the code so you can cut the fat especially your style tags.

From the symptoms you describe in your first post it would seem there is a problem with the way frontpage is dealing with the file - This could be an internal bug - not sure.

How good is you HTML? as you become more masterful you will be able to make sense of the code and see where you page is bogging down - but as it stands you page does OK on my connection.

Validation is something important to considier too - but I don't think pages built with frontpage do all that well.

I hope this will be of some help. In both frontpage and Microsoft Word if you enable smarttags,each time
you edit the document it will grow on you, both in
text and images as well. It will actually make new
sets of your image files.

Solution, disable smarttags untill you are finished
with edditing and ready to post the page.

One easy answer.....use your notepad and write your code the old fashioned way....copy it over to Frontpage to publish and manage, to avoid getting any of their weird code markups. Once this is done, HTML validation is a breeze!

It always amazes me how many people who have probably never set hands on FP, let alone FP 2003, come out of the woodwork whenever there's an FP thread here... Does the answer to every question about FP here have to be "Switch to DW"?

I'd bet Kingy's reply had something to do with this. I've never had files exponentially increase in size like this. Any progress on this gdiza?

if u do a search for this type of problem thru google, i dunno, typing "file size increasing frontpage 2003" it brings up this problem also happening in ms word.

anyways, as for me, it doesn't do it alot at work... every now and then but at home it does it all the time.
i dunno **** is going on.
