Need Dreamweaver to automatically resize JPEG's

Hi all,

I have some templates in Dreamweaver that I use extensively. The only thing that I change are the numerous photos throughtout the page. However, my photos may vary slightly from each photo to the next. Is there anyway that I can get my JPEGs and GIFs to automatically resize to my cells in my tables, instead of my cells resizing to my photos? Dreamweaver can get so quirky once the table gets resized, even if it's the tinest amount, and it gets so frustrating. Hope someone has some tips.

Thanks.

you really dont want to be using dreamweaver/html to resize images - you would be much better off resizing them in photoshop or a similar package which has batch automation features.

I use Photoshop for everything, such as creating my page and everything. However, once I create my page in Dreamweaver, I have a terrible time going back to Photoshop and cropping my photos to the exact size as my cell in Dreamweaver. I check out all my dimensions in Dreamweaver and still have tons of problems getting them the correct size for my cell. Any ideas how to correctly crop or get my photos exactly correct, so that Dreamweaver will not drive me crazy?

Hey, wndyw1
Do your pics have a white border around them? What is the exact problem are they to big and go off the page or they to small I would love to help I just need more info.

Hi Steelrane,

The page in Dreamweaver is created so that there is a sliced JPEG of a frame to go around the photos. Therefore there is only an exact specific dimension to fit each photo into it. If the photo (or new JPEG) does not fit this cell exactly right, then it moves the JPEG of the frame out of position. And, of course, you now what that does when previewed on the net. I change these photos so often, and often end up so frustrated, because I just go back into Imageready, make the new photo part of the page, save to Dreamweaver and start all over. I know there has to be some way to make the original page in Dreamweaver and the cells in the table freeze, so that the new photo will just resize to fit this cell. You can always resize your images in Dreamweaver in Layout Mode, and the changes are so minute that it would not distort the image on the new photo. I just get so frustrated with DW once the table gets out of whack. Does this make any sense?

you could hard code the image width and height into the img tag in dreamweaver, but then images will get stretched/distorted and quality mya suffer.

Hi wndyw1,

Not sure if I have the right end of the stick here, but what about making all your photos exactly the same size in the first instance?

Benihana, that is a good idea. I don't have a problem with distortion, because usually the change is so tiny, it is not noticable.

But, HelenDiv, thank you so much. I swear, you can make the most difficult problem out of the simplest things. I always used the crop and could never really get the right dimensions, but as goofy as it sounds, I never thought about using Image Size, until you said that. Thanks.
