I've used Mozilla Composer for site editing and adding content to my site with few problems...till now.

Have a new Dell 4600 with XP and cannot publish using any editor....the IC firewall is disabled. I've tried with virus and firewall disabled. No change in isp dsl service. publish setting and password correct. Getting a 530 error and an "unknown publishign error".
So tried Contribute2...password/user name error...then found a way around that and got an error that Contribute cannot find the path to my site.

Another person in my group has same problem exactly and also uses Dell....but Dell says it's not the system.

Any ideas? Please? I'm stumped!

Back to basics: try using html produced with notepad, and a "vanilla" ftp program - cuteFTP or WS_FTP to upload the files, making sure you cover all bases with proxy settings, etc.

If that works okay, then you need to whang on Dell some - for one thing I'm not sure the IC firewall should be disabled by default, and if it IS, then there should be some fairly transparent way of simply enabling it - through Services maybe. And for another thing, have you checked the proxy settings in the publisher? You might have to change them to "passive transfer" or whatever your particular publisher calls it.
