Is there an idiot-proof Mac webpage program?

I want to put up a simple website and I prefer to make it myself. I use a Macintosh Powerbook. I have no experience designing websites - this will be my first shot at it. I used a program called Claris Home Page, but the site comes out looking different depending on which browser a person uses - which seems unprofessional.

I know nothing about website design software and don't even know where to begin looking. Can anyone recommend some software that's made for beginners who don't have a clue about HTML?

johnneumann, Welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com] :)

If you don't get anything here, you might try the The Macintosh Webmaster Forum [webmasterworld.com].

Dear Pendanticist,

Thanks for taking the time to clue me in on the right forum to post to. I saw the wysiwyg section and jumped on it never having noticed the Mac section.

Thanks again.

Robert,

Can you provide me with a link that will give me a tutorial for Composer? I have it on my Mac, but I don't know where to start.

Robert,

Please disregard my question. I fumbled around some search engines and found a good tutorial. I think I'm going to try your advice.

Are you able to say one way or the other if Composer is better than Claris Home Page?

I haven't seen claris in about 6 or 7 years, so I don't know what it is. composer is 100% wysiwyg, drag and drop click here type of program, you can create really fancy pages without ever looking at html code. I don't really suggest this but you can do it.
If you can use Word or Publisher or any kind of document type software, you can use this out of the box.
It is very easy to do.

luck,
robert
