cursor blinking rapidly

what am i overlooking?

has anybody else had this problem: MAC OS 10.2.6

in dreamweaverMX, when in the code view, my cursor blinks very rapidly. also, when in design view, if i pull up the color palette--in the properties inspector and CSS tabs--it will stay open and not allow me to choose a color. there is no way i can get back to my document so i have to force quit :(

this happened once before but i forgot what i did to correct it.
