Best stand alone link and code validators

DW just doesn't do it for me.

Greeetings and Gidday from Downunder folks,

Using DreamweaverMX to create sites and update pages created in Homesite and earlier, graduating from on-page code to css, and updating from 3.2 to 4.0 and xml transitional, but just don't like the way DW checks links and validates code.

As a result, I find myself using HS (which has it's own limitations) to double check it, which seems to me to be conterproductive.

Can anyone please recommend a good stand alone link validator and code validator? (And no, please don't send me off to WC3.org, I know about those. I want 'em on my desktop thanks.)

Thanks in advance,

Cheers and Hooroo
JP

Xenu's Link Sleuth - xenu.exe is the best link validator I've seen,
and it's freeware.

As for code validator I don't know better than the W3C.. I've moved to xml headers and xhtml1.1 which shows up errors when played in opera.

I second Xenu. It's great and free!

For HTML desktop validation, I use CSE HTML validator. Not so free, but a valuable tool:
