Can NetObjects Fusion sites be optimized?

how much manual control is there?

I may be getting involved in optimizing a site written in NetObjects Fusion 7.0. I know the code's bloated and all that, but I'm wondering how automated the software is, and whether there's going to be enough manual control for me to be able to optimize the site. I do understand that all changes to the code will need to be made within NetObjects Fusion, and that I can't use an html editor on the site.

I looked at a NOF site some years back, made with an earlier version of the program, and I vaguely remember that the link text and the titles of destination pages were the tied together so that if you changed the link text, you changed the destination title. I'm not sure that I'm remembering correctly; I may be confusing NOF with a FrontPage site I encountered.

Is NOF going to allow me to specify Hx headings and control them with CSS?... to create independent titles and link text?... to have any control of meta tags? What kind of nasty surprises am I going to run into?

Anybody?

Surely they've sold more than one copy...

I tried NOF for a while, about a year ago.

I gave up because I couldn't influence the html in the way I needed.

I am sure that the pages can be optimised to a certain extent, but I couldn't get the page size down to anything useful.

Let's say that on this site I could live with the page size the way it is. I live with bloated pages on a lot of sites I optimize for clients, where I'm lucky even to influence page content. I just kind of close my eyes while the pages load, or walk into the kitchen and make a cup of tea.

What I really need to know are the bare bones basics of the program in relation to SEO...

Is NOF going to allow me to specify Hx headings and control them with CSS?... to create independent titles and link text?... to have any control of meta tags?

If the program is going to surprise me with some sort of automatic override somewhere, that would be helpful to know too.

As I recall, NOF uses css extensively as part of its normal design process - so you may be OK there.

I stopped investigating further because page size and html structure are such a major part of my SEO technique that it wasn't worth me persisting.

Sorry I can't be of more help

4eyes - Thanks. Anyone else foolish enough to use the program, perhaps more recently? ;)
