I have a current site that is about 35 pages. I have been using DreamWeaver for two years now but have never tried the template feature in it. I have decided that it would be benifical to try and use it before my site gets any larger.

I tried making my index page the template and making all the content that I do not want to change as an Editable region. I then tried to apply this template to another existing page - the problem is that the editable region from the template replaces the content already on the page I am applying it to.

I am not sure how to prevent that or what I am doing wrong - I am pretty sure that I can find the answer here!

The forums here have been very helpful from SEO to questions as this.

Editable regions - are for 'edit - able' aspects of the template - such as page specific content.
NON- Editable, which are the area's that you have not tagged as editable, is content across the site, i.e. contact info, logo, page structure, etc.

There are also optional regions. Would suggest going through the DW template, assets and the libraries documents in the help section of Dreamweaver, they are very useful.

I gave all the DreamWeaver Help section a run through prior to the post - that was no help :)

Th templates seem to work well for a siet I created from the ground up, however, I am not having any luck getting to work with my existing site.

I made the index page the template with the content with the exception of the site map at the bottom of the page.

When I apply the tempate to another page in my site all the content from the editable region and non-editable region(of the template) gets placed in side the editable region of the page the template is being applied to.

I hope all that made sense. I will add my site to my profile - maybe it has something to do with te <div> I have set up?

HI Shawn

I recently migrated a site so that it uses DWMX Templates and i saw no other way than to open a new page based on the template. Then copy-pasting the content from the non template file into the new page and then save.

And i did this with all the pages. If you site is not to big yet, maybe you could just do the same.

i hope this helps and i did not misunderstand the prob.

Kind regards
